Found an old Taiyo/dickie overland (white) and now searching for a remote

Page 1 of 2Next

Hello,

I found my old Dickie 4x4 in the cellar and it is in good condition.
It works. I tested it with  another old tronico remote controller - but this is not mine and I can´t keep it.
Luckily enough it worked.

Now I searching for a replacement remote.
Screenshots from the manual how the remote looked. I think it´s the same as the other overland.

Can anyone say wich remotes are compatibel?
I can drive my taiyo with an old remote from tronico/nikko 27mhz controller but from what I heared it´s just pure luck if it works with a different controller.

Would appreciate any informatioin that could help find me a replacement.
Also another question. How much is this car worth?

Hey mate,

I've never seen one with these decals (Paragliding/Rainbow), though I'm not too familiar with Dickie models myself. Taiyo manufactured many different 4x4 Off Roaders for many different brands and companies, so it can be hard to tell exactly what it was sold as unless you have the box. As for value, in the general market it's mostly the highly popular 9.6V models from Tyco and many Taiyos which are going for high prices, so I'd guess this one would'nt fetch too much unless there was a specific collector who especially liked the 4x4s and wanted all of them (especially given how unique this one appears to be). I'd keep it though, as collecting these models as valuable possessions has only really just started.

As for the controller, it looks like a very standard 27Mhz "Left Antenna", or that's what I called it when I catalogued all the different controller types here:

Taiyo Controller and Tyco Controller Types from 1970s-2000s

The actual difference is in the Taiyo Integrated Circuit inside the unit. There was a guy who made a table of which controllers had which IC, but I'm struggling to find the webpage(maybe someone else will remember!). In any case, I would expect that any similar 27Mhz Taiyo unit from the era would work, and there should be plenty on eBay being sold alongside other cars, and occasionally by themselves if you search for Taiyo controller.

I hope that helps! :)

I know it's been a couple months but I've got a Spare Taiyo/Dickie 27mhz remote (S-1532)  I'd give you if you wanted just pay the postage it's a Turbo remote with no battery door but will work

Will this remote work with a Taiyo Jet Blaster?

Is that a Mini Blaster, or Turbo Blaster? Not sure I've heard of Jet Blaster.

Oh, Jet Blaster is a Mini Blaster. No its remote is smaller, but also much more common. Get one that looks the same from eBay (search Taiyo controller and just go based on looks). Just make sure its the same frequency as your Jet Blaster (27mhz, 49Mhz, 40Mhz)
