Note: We are having difficulty identifying the early Taiyo Corvettes (<1982) due to lack of model numbers on packaging. As such, this is a work in progress and is not confirmed/conclusive. If you have any information which may help us, please comment in the chat below!
These are the models/years we're aware of:
Model 7526. Made 1975. Named "Chevrolet Corvette". 1/26.
Model 7872. Made 1978. Named "Can-Am Corvette". 1/24. (Believed to be this)
Model 7902. Made 1979. Named "Chevrolet Corvette"
Model 8342. Made 1983. Named "Racing Corvette".
The Taiyo Can-Am Corvette is a radio controlled model released in Europe, Japan, and other countries worldwide in 1978.

One of the earliest (oldest) radio control models manufactured by Taiyo, the Can-Am Corvette is built with Taiyo's original skill and trade - tin/metal toy cars. Prior to getting into RC, Taiyo would first manufacture tin toys (such as the robot in their logo), such as metal toy cars, and 'Bump 'n Go' models which would go straight until they hit a wall, then turn around momentarily before traveling forward again.
While we have earlier models on this site (eg. 1977 Taiyo Lamborghini), it's this Taiyo Can-Am Corvette which appears to utilize its oldest technology, 2xAA+9V with a metal battery cover, metal motor compartment (visible thru the switch), and no doubt other metal areas. I'm fairly confident the hard-body and chassis is plastic, but if you own one and can correct me, please do.
Performance
Once turned on with the switch on its under-body, the model will immediately start driving forward. Put it on the ground, and it will shoot off depending on the speed selected (slow/fast). Then, use the steering wheel on the controlled to steer left/right.
Recommendation
The same as all these old Corvettes, the beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Whether you will like one of these depends on sentimental and nostalgic value.
