The Taiyo Lamborghini Countach Motora-Wave was sold in 1977 by Taiyo as one of their very early RC vehicles.
Taiyo's first documented attempt at the Lamborghini Countach, although they would have many others in the future, including the Taiyo 9.7V Turbo Lamborghini Countach which is widely known as one of their best, if not their best ever, road based RC vehicles.
We've never run one of these, however based on the photos, we believe the 2 position switch on the controller would be for Forward, and Reverse-with-Turn.
See the photo of the bottom of the car - the gaps in the chassis for the front wheels would allow them to turn fully in one direction only. When the car reversed, the mechanical design of the front wheels would have them naturally pull to the left, resulting in a reverse with 90 degree turn.
Taiyo would use this reverse-turn concept again a decade later to reduce costs and compete with cheaper Chinese brands.
The Motora-wave cars were the natural progression for Taiyo, who had manufactured tin toys, then tin vehicles, and later 'Bump 'n Go' cars which were tin cars that drove by themselves and changed direction whenever they bumped into something. Taiyo 'simply' manufactured more of the car out of lightweight plastic (the bottom was still tin), and added the radio control unit, leading to this Motora-wave series.
A decade later, Taiyo would release their 9.6V Twin Turbo Lamborghini Countach - an RC that remains excellent even when judged by today's standards.
