Tyco Harley Davidson Pickup remote compatibility

Hello everyone, and congrats on a great info page for Tyco RC cars.

I have the RC pickup mentioned in the title (https://tycocollectors.com/product/1992-harley-davidson-pickup-stunt-cycle/). I am aware that its remote works on 27MHz, since I remember my old remote having that sticker, but I lost it. What controls are compatible with this RC car? Looking at your remote control page (https://tycocollectors.com/types-of-taiyo-controller-tyco-controller/), it seems that the N type is the closest to it from what I can remember. I also remember that the antenna on my remote was the hard type, not the wire one. Can you recommend some alternative remote I can buy?

Thanks in advance.

Hi mate,

I'm glad you like the site! :)  So yes I'd agree, the N type is definitely what you want. Now unless you find the exact 27Mhz Harley Pickup remote control (unlikely) there's no way to be 100% sure you'll get the correct working one (it all depends on the Taiyo IC inside), however I'd personally be quite confident that any similar looking 27Mhz (N type) controller from any other 1992 Tyco would work fine.

So if it were me, I'd setup an eBay saved search + email alert for the best keywords, such as "tyco remote control" (check eBay completed items for the best keywords to use, and use -minuses to remove unreleased results) and find one from any model released around the same year. Ideally 1992, but probably 1991-1993 would be okay.

For example, this one sold recently

Search TycoCollectors for "1992 Tyco" to see other cars of that era.

Good luck. And make sure you keep the Harley Pickup! It's basically a special edition Bandit, very nice.
