Removing the Body from a Tyco Nissan 4WD without breakage
Quote from Toyranosaur on September 30, 2022, 2:56 amRecently scored one, & needed to clean it up: So 1st thing, HOW does this thing hold the body on? I found nothing online, so hadda risk it & luckily got it off without destroying anything. For the next chap who does not want to watch his precious body crack in his hands, I submit the following:
Pic 1 shows the bracket that is bolted to the body from underneath (without the body in the way) so you can see how it slides about 9 mm. to the rear to lock it into the top of the chassis.
Pic 2 shows it as mounted to the body (Without the windows) for clarity.
Pic 3 shows a tab running vertically on the body, and;
Pic 4 shows the mating slot in the chassis that it snaps into to prevent forward/backward movement once the bracket is slid into the chassis. (The arrow shows that they must have expected you to 'slide' the body back over the slot to re-mount.)
Now, what to do: Look from the bottom & you'll see the slot and tab as in Pics 3 & 4 - It is located right under the separator between the side windows. You'll want to gently slide something like a couple of thick pencils, etc. between the body & chassis JUST enough to disengage that tab & slot- Only about 3-4 mm! Then, tap the back of the body & slide it forward the required 9 mm. or so (You won't need to remove the from bumper.) Ta-Da! Unless you're really ham-fisted about it, you should have success. I sure hope this keeps someone from breaking their truck in the future, I was STRESSED doing it with no guidance. Cheers All, Chris REC

Currently my backlog of cars is prioritized as follows:
- 2 x Super Fight's needing restoration. New stickers and RetroBrite ready.
- 2 x Eliminators. Just need a clean, and remote.
- 2 x 4WD Racing Pickup. One needs a serious clean, inside and out, I'll be using your guide.
Thanks again
