Removing 9.6V battery plugs
Quote from Toyranosaur on September 12, 2022, 6:39 amPicked up a couple things over the years I thought I'd pass on- Anyone else with such, do post here & maybe we'll help somebody out.
Firstly, I like to totally disassemble my used cars, to wash, clean, & cherry out. With the Head's-Up type of chassis, I found you can completely remove the electronics with NO unsoldering, if you do one thing: Make a tool to get those damn big battery plugs off so you can pull all the electronics & wash the chassis parts in the sink like God intended.
If you take an old telescoping transmitter antenna & cut out the individual tubes, one of those diameters is a perfect fit over the pins/tubes inside the female Gigantic Tamiya/Molex-style plugs, and another works on the male plug on the battery itself. Hold the plug & push in on the wires from the wire side: Slip the tube over the pin, and pull on the wires- Ta-Da! Pops right out. Now, if you can finagle the on-off switch through its hole (It's possible) just clean & re-assemble with no worries. Hope this helps! Chris REC
