Quote from mlansky on January 28, 2024, 9:05 amHello,
I am trying to restore a Taiyo / Dicke RC car but I got it without remote controller.
The car uses 4 x 1.5V R6 (AA) size batteries (approx. 19990's to 2000's ?) and has no gear selector switch (Fast/Slow).
The car receiver is labeled 18812RX-01 (YH9545). It uses a IC from Mosdesign" MR-2".
I have found schematic diagrams for "MR-3" or "MR-5" or "MR-6" which are all from year 2002 (but no info on MR-2).
The corresponding chips in the remote control needs to be named "MT-2".
Can you please check which remote controlers are using "MT-2" chipset from Mosdesign company ?
Maybe "Q" type remote ? Or M / N / O / O2 ?
Year of the car could be anything from early 90's to early 2002's (maybe even a Chinese model from 2003 onward ?)

Thanks for your post. Unfortunately I do not believe that is an RC car manufactured by Taiyo, so my knowledge is limited. While Dickie RC was almost all Taiyo RC cars, they also occasionally released RC cars by other companies, and I think this is one of them, as the chassis and the circuit board you've shown don't look like Taiyo style items I've ever seen, sorry :~( The Taiyo/Tyco cars all have an IC designed by Taiyo themselves, with the Taiyo name on the top. In your case I'd recommend grabbing any other 4xAA RC car from eBay with controller, and doing a full swap of the electronics. Sorry I can't be more helpful...
