The Tyco US1 GI Joe Electric Trucking set was a special Hasbro licensed edition of the US1 Electric Trucking system released in 1984.
Features
In the late 70s G.I. Joe action figures would see a decline in popularity due to the Vietnam War, however with the re-launch in 1982 by Hasbro as “A Real American Hero”, the brand was rejuvenated and dozens of new figures and play sets would be created.
It was at this time that Hasbro would team up with Tyco to produce the GI Joe Electric Trucking set, a seriously cool combination of action figures, play sets, and electric slot cars that could inspire imaginative play from just about anyone.
Vehicles
The Tyco US1 GI Joe Electric Trucking set featured unique G.I. Joe vehicles, such as various tanks and armored vehicles, a helicopter, and two which could be controlled by the included steering set – a missile transport truck, and hauler.
The set also included a GI Joe Action Battle Mat with Mountain Backdrop, Secret Cobra Command Headquarters, GI Joe Command Headquarters, soldiers from both sides, paratroopers, missile launch pad, and surrounding all of this the electric trucking tracks with vehicles. How good is that!
Availability and Collectability
s with other Tyco US1 Electric Trucking sets, the G.I. Joe edition is considered a vintage collectible today, and it may be more challenging to find in good condition than other versions given its popularity. Collectors and enthusiasts can look for these sets and individual components on online auction sites or through specialty vintage toy shops.
