MODEL REVIEW

Some of the greatest cars that Taiyo / Tyco ever made were the Grand Prix and Super Fight series, based off the original Twin Turbo Lamborghini Countach chassis of 1989.

Yet with so many varieties of rare and limited edition cars, and many looking almost identical upon first glance, I thought it best to create a page dedicated to these rare gems so that we could enjoy them all together in one place, with links back to their more common counterparts.

Tyco Marlboro Indy 9.6V Twin Turbo

Released for a limited time, and aimed at the adult market, the Tyco Marlboro Indy Car is just an absolute weapon. With striking red and white paintwork, and true to life advertising design (before Tobacco advertising was banned during sports), the Marlboro Indy is from another time and place, and is a favorite amongst my personal collection here at Tyco Collectors.

Best of all, it's not just good looking, it's got the dual motor power to match. Check out the full article: 1990 Tyco Marlboro Indy Car

Tyco Miller Indy 9.6V Twin Turbo

Apparently released at the same time as the Marlboro version, the gold and black Miller Indy is equally impressive in performance, and also rather hard to find, no doubt due to the low production numbers - reportedly around 5,000, even less if that's split between both model variants.

That said, it's probably not as striking as its red and white brother, but still on my list of rare cars to collect. Check out the full article here: 1990 Tyco Miller Indy

Taiyo Super Fight F-1 'Marlboro Style' (2 Motor / Twin Turbo)

Appearing to be the original design that was later used for the popular 1990 Tyco Marlboro Indy, this Taiyo Super Fight F-1 with Marlboro style color scheme is so rare that the most prolific Taiyo collector in Europe is still desperate to get his hands on one (shout out to Nostalgia RC!)

Looking closely, notice the thick black lines separating the white and red paintwork - these stickers were used to cover over a slightly messy edge of the red spray paint (upon the white plastic car), a feature that was sorely missing from the Tyco variant.

Currently there is no page for this car, it's too rare! In fact this is the only photo I could find of it!

Taiyo Super Fight F-1 'Marlboro Style' (1 Motor)

At first glance you may think you've come across the previously mentioned uber-rare Super Fight F-1 Marlboro style, however upon closer inspection something is amiss...

Based upon an entirely different chassis and with a single motor (despite the 'Twin Turbo' decal!), this is still quite a rare and collectable RC car.

See the full article on the 3 different Taiyo Grand Prix F-1 variants, in red, black, and red/white.

Taiyo Grand Prix F-1 Black and Gold

The same car as the above Marlboro style (single motor), yet with a nice gold trimmed black body.

Have I missed any?

There seems to be so many variants of these, surely I've missed one or two. Let me know in the comments below, or contact me.
