MODEL REVIEW

The Taiyo Yamaha YZ-250 OffRoad Bike was released  in 2000 as one of several 1/6 scale RC motorbikes at the time.

Features and Performance

Unique to this model was the higher power 7.2V 'Flex' battery pack, instead of the usual 6V pack. But does it make much of a difference? Yes! We've never driven one, but comparing videos of the 6V, and the 7.2V is clearly faster.

What makes these bikes fun is their fairly realistic ability to 'lean' around corners to turn like a real bike, with front shocks, and enough grunt to get over a modest jump, they're a blast for larger indoor play areas, or outdoors.

Recommendation

The YZ-250 in particular sold very well in Japan, and comes up occasionally on a popular Japanese auction site, so if you want one and have patience you can likely get one, and in great condition.

Checkout this video below of someone in Thailand blasting the YZ-250 around their yard.
