A tiny car with great slick tires and a bad attitude. Sadly though, there's just not many Bad Boys around!

MODEL REVIEW

The Tyco Cruisin Bad Boy was small 1/24 radio controlled car, designed and manufactured by Taiyo (Japan). Year of release is not known, but I'd guess around 1992.

Where are all the Cruisin Bad Boys?

There are almost no photographs available online of this car - I've never seen a box, only a few loose models. Was it sold only for a short time perhaps? Only in the USA?

The same car was originally released by Taiyo (Japan) as the 1991 Taiyo Tropical Surfer, and later by Tyco as the 1992 Tyco California Surfin' in 27/49Mhz Green and Red varieties.

Most likely the Bad Boy was released either prior (1991) or following (1994?) the California Surf'in as a standlone car, but that's just my best guess.

Features and Performance

As a 1/24 scale, this is a small car, not much larger than its own controller, and so with 4 x AA batteries that would typically be used in larger 1/20 models, and those fat slick tires, I'd expect this to be heaps of fun to drive indoors on a smooth level surface.

Also, it's pretty sweet looking right? I'd like a car like this IRL!

Availability and Collectability

As previously mentioned, this car is almost nowhere to be found, with just a couple of cars listed (without box) in the last 12 months, and no photos to be found.

Personally I like the California Surfin' design the best, but I'd take a Cruis'in Bad Boy if I could find one in a box.
