The 1997 Tyco Recoil is a radio controlled monster truck manufactured by Taiyo (Japan), and released onto the US, UK, and other markets worldwide in 1997.
Continuing the 90s tradition of flip-boxed windowed packaging, the 6.0v Jet Turbo Recoil was a 'Monster Truck' style RC based upon the chassis of the 1996 Tyco Rebound 4x4.
Features and Performance
Even with a 6V power train, the Recoil / Rebound chassis has plenty of go, though it's mostly high acceleration with a low top speed, which is perfect for it's intended use - indoor lounge-room adventuring, and occasional outside dirt bashing.
Based on the chassis, wheel, battery, and overall similarity with the Rebound, we'd expect the truck to be powered by 2 x Mabuchi RS260 motors, however without photos of a teardown we can't be 100% sure.
Unfortunately there are no videos of this mini beast on YouTube, it's not a very common car.
Notice the similarities in the Recoil and Rebound battery compartment, On/Off Switch placement, and chassis screw locations.
Recommendation
Unfortunately the Recoil just isn't very common, and comes up very occasionally on eBay. If you're looking for one, we'd suggest setting up a Saved Search and waiting several months, or simply buying a Rebound 4x4 for a similar style of fun.
