The Tyco Harley-Davidson R/C Motorcycle is a 1/6 scale remote control motorcycle manufactured by Taiyo Japan, and released into the global market by Tyco RC in 1994.
As a full function radio controlled motorbike, it can balance upright without the assistance of any additional wheels or cheap tricks, and can lean into turns and steer its front wheel just like a real motorcycle.
Features
Shipping with its own stand that holds the bike up via its battery slot, the Harley makes a great shelf piece, even with all that tacky chrome, it's actually kinda cool, and much larger than you might expect.
One of several radio controlled motorcycles produced by Tyco / Taiyo at the time, it was released together with its arch nemisis, the Tyco Samurai (sold in other countries as the Taiyo Ninja Racing Bike) which was somewhat modelled from the real life Kawasaki Ninja - the polar opposite of a Harley.
Performance
Taking a 6.0V Jet Turbo battery pack that slots upward into the bottom of the chassis, it balances naturally around its centre of gravity, helping with turns and generally keeping it stable once it's moving forward.
And while it's not especially fast, it moves well for its size, and at 1/6 scale is the largest scaled radio controlled toy that Tyco would ever produce.
Recommendation
If you're a collector of the black/yellow 'Maximum Heat!' era of Tyco Toys like me, then picking up a Harley Davidson Remote Control Motorcycle seems like an obvious choice. It's not too hard to find one in decent condition, it looks great in the box or on its shelf display stand, and it's unique enough to provide an interesting drive, much more unique than many other 4xAA models.
If you were only going to pick up one, then personally I'd go for the Tyco Samurai, however it all comes down to personal preference.
Combined with the brand name recognition of Harley Davidson, this is one of my favorite this is one you'll want to pickup for your collection, though I'd probably be grabbing a few others (including the Ninja) before this one.
