The Tyco Super Baja (labelled on the box as Tyco 4WD 9.6V Super Baja) is a radio controlled model of unusually high specification for its class, manufactured by Taiyo of Japan, and released into the US/UK and other markets worldwide in 1993.
Extremely rare and highly equipped, this is probably the most feature packed model that Taiyo / Tyco ever created.

As longtime collectors may have spotted, under the covers this is based on a Taiyo Max Hopper 4WD, and is essentially a supercharged version of the Tyco Turbo Hopper. This makes for some surprising design features, such as metal steering hubs on the front wheels, letting you know right away it means business.

Availability and Collectability
I struggle to think of any Taiyo / Tyco model with more features and performance than the Super Baja, though if you're not into the bright paint scheme, you may appreciate the original Max Hopper 4WD instead.
Possibly the only model which comes close, and may even beat the Baja/Max due to outright speed is the Aero Jet Fighter 2, with a top speed of 31km/h (19mph) though the extra speed is thanks to it being 2WD only.
Overall, if you're looking for the best, most high spec Turbo Hopper that Tyco ever made, it has to be the 4WD 9.6V Super Baja. Sadly though it's virtually impossible to find, and that combination of awesome specs and extreme rarity makes it intensely collectable!
Note on Price History: Unfortunately these are so rare, we only have 1 sale ever recorded, and it was for a "parts" car (not in good condition). A healthy estimate on an mint condition boxed car would easily top $350 $500+ USD in my personal opinion. Less unboxed, damaged, etc.
Update December 2024: More sales have been located, so we're getting good indications of pricing. $270 USD for a used unboxed model means $500+ USD for a boxed one in great condition.
