1993 Radio Shack 4×4 Offroad Tiger

The Radio Shack 4x4 OffRoad Tiger was a 1993 radio control 4WD pickup manufactured by Taiyo, and based on countless other varieties of similar trucks, mostly sold through the mid-late 80s and early 90s by Taiyo and Radio Shack.

By the time of the OffRoad Tiger's release in 1993 (now almost 30 years ago!) its design would have already been dated, however it's the timelessness of this design with its super wide air-filled tires, and classic 80s monster truck look that made it attractive both in the 80s, and again in the 90s with this re-release.

With a basic design very similar to the more common 4x4 OffRoader, the performance of the Tiger would have been fairly slow, and with the car alone consuming 1x9V and 4xC batteries (plus another 9V for the controller!) these were expensive toys to run, especially before rechargeable batteries became cheap and plentiful.

Regardless, the design is typical Taiyo quality, with the metal steering hubs, bulky chassis, and huge puffy ties, it's easy to see why these are still loved and collected today.
