The Tyco Micro Bandit is a radio controlled toy manufactured by Taiyo (Japan) and released into the US, UK, and other markets worldwide in 1992.
Purpose in the market
Released alongside the revised 1992 Tyco Bandit, one of the best R/C cars ever made in its class, the Micro Bandit is primarily there to fill a gap where younger children were unable to drive the full size Bandit, or even Mini Bandit, and so a small, cheap, simplified control scheme was created that younger kids could enjoy.

Features and Performance
With a small (likely 160 sized) motor and just 2 x AA batteries, the Micro Bandit is not overly complex, and its 1 channel control scheme is the same. With just forward and reverse-turn modes, it's easy for a younger child to control.
Turning is performed by reversing the vehicle, which will cause the front wheels to angle left naturally, causing the car to turn 90 degrees, and finish facing a different direction. Very much suited to kids, though it works surprisingly well with tank-tracked vehicles like the Mini Traxx released in the same year.

Recommendation
As a toy, the Tyco Micro Bandit is a wonderful piece of nostalgia, especially as presented in its original packaging. If you had one as a kid, owning one of these again may be desireable. Not being full function and with reduced functionality however it's collecting appeal is directly linked to the larger Tyco Bandit, and owning a full collection of this most popular series of radio controlled cars.
