The Taiyo Super Jet II is a 1:18 scale radio control car released onto the Japanese market in 1987. It's a 2WD off-road vehicle, with shocks all round, and off-road tires. Intended as an Off-Road basher, it's suitable for mud, rocks, dirt, etc.
Due to its smaller size and power, it's actually less capable than it's predecessor, the Taiyo Aero Super Jet 4WD, more intended for a younger audience.
Performance
Powered by 6xAA batteries (7.2v Ni-Cd), it's not as fast as a Jet Hopper MKI (9.6V), we'd estimate an approx. top speed of 18km/h.
History
The Super Jet series has a slightly confusing history, with the original being larger 1:16 scale vehicles with 9.6V power and 4WD, known as both the 'Super Jet 4WD' and the 'Aero Super Jet 4WD' depending on the country and packaging, per photo below.
The Super Jet II however is a reduced 1:18 scale (smaller), with 7.2V power, and 2WD.
Adding to that, the Super Jet II still looks nearly identical to both original models, but with the exclusion of 4WD which may not immediately noticeable to the buyer.
The obvious giveaway in photos is the new battery compartment which is not sectioned off like the original 4WD version which needed to make room for the 4WD drive train down the middle.

Recommendation
The Super Jet II is a high quality (Made in Japan), reasonably capable 2WD off-road vehicle in a compact package. We'd recommend the original versions over this, however it's certainly a welcome addition to your collection, and easier to find than the larger, more powerful originals.
