MODEL REVIEW

The Taiyo Porsche 962C is a radio controlled car manufactured by Taiyo (Japan), and released into the international market in 1987.

Based on the sports-prototype racing car built by Porsche (see below), and successor to the Taiyo Porsche 956, it significantly increases the performance, quality, and engineering just two years after that initial release.

The color-scheme broadly follows the same 'Rothmans' Blue and White like the previous model, though the '33' is unexplained, possibly the top speed they'd been aiming for (with 31km/h or 19mph being the official top).

Performance

The Taiyo Porsche 962C uses one of Taiyo's most high performance chassis, borrowed from the Super Fight F-1 (Dual Motor).

  • Full Function
  • 9.6V 'Twin Turbo'
  • 2 x Mabuchi 280 motors driving rear wheels
  • Front Wishbone and Rear Shocks
  • Slick Racing Tires

With a top speed of 31km/h, matching Taiyo's fastest cars, the Porsche 962C is one of the most sought after models ever made by the company.

Recommendations

Unlike it's 2-Motor cousin which shares the same chassis (Lamborghini Countach) the 962C rarely makes an appearance on eBay or other auction sites, and so we'd recommend joining our Facebook group (link) to see if theres any collectors willing to part with one.

Other than that, you may wish to look out for its sister model, the RadioShack Porsche 962C which was also made by Taiyo, and is virtually identical except for the incredible paint job, box art, and Taiyo's best Pistol Grip controller!
