This Taiyo Jet Fighter is a 1/14 scale radio controlled model released into European and other English/French speaking markets in 1987. It is a localised version of the original Japanese version of the Jet Fighter.
The 1987 Taiyo Jet Fighter is just a beautiful model, even sitting on a shelf it's a wonderful sight.
One of the best designs Taiyo ever manufactured, the Jet Fighter is a simple, well made, highly capable design that mimics many of the popular Tamiya buggies of the era, such as Tamiya's The Fox, but in a smaller, budget friendly, ready-to-run product that was more accessible to the average consumer.
While most localized (non-Japanese) versions of Taiyo cars are Made in Singapore (including the German Dickie Jet Fighter), this English/French 'Global' version is also Made in Japan like the original.
Performance
Released just 1 year after the original Taiyo Jet Hopper (Tyco Turbo Hopper), the Jet Fighter is bigger, more aggressive, and with a more sophisticated design with easier access to batteries.
Features include:
Larger 1/14 scale body
9.6v 'Turbo' 8xAA power and LED
Easy access to batteries along bottom of vehicle
Extra large rear shocks and sophisticated front suspension
Large air filled tires
Top speed of 27km/h (17mph) matching the Jet Hopper despite larger size
