MODEL REVIEW

The Dickie Monster Ranger 4x4 was released in 1986 into the German market under the local 'Dickie Toys' brand.

Unlike most other local Taiyo brands such as Tyco and Metro RC, the Dickie Toys company is still operating today.

Sold as the Taiyo Ford Ranger in other parts of the world, the Ford brand was dropped, likely as that Ford product was not sold in Germany at the time.

Overall this is a decent 4x4 for its vintage, one of many similar 4x4 variants that Taiyo sold in large quantities. Unfortunately it would eat through batteries, consuming 3xC size and 1x 9V onboard (does not include the 9V in the controller!). While others in the range had features such as a removeable rear canopy, or even an electric winch, this version was fairly straightforward without any of that stuff - it's a great 4x4 80s RC as it is!
