If it was your first R/C car in the early 80s, this may hold significant value for you. Certainly something you'd remember!

MODEL REVIEW

The Taiyo Auto Wheelie Beetle was a radio controlled car manufactured by Taiyo (Japan).

Released in 1983, it was one of at least four 'auto wheelie' cars, including the Auto Wheelie Ford Ranger, Jeep Challenger, and Mercedes Benz.

Able to lift up into a wheelie on command, the car was balanced with the batteries at the rear tray making it lift easily.

See the YouTube video below from Nordic RC Visions of the Jeep Challenger 'Auto Wheelie', a car from the same range as this Auto Wheelie Beetle. It's a very close approximation of a Tamiya Wild Willy, no?

Availability and Collectability

The Taiyo Auto Wheelie series seems to be relatively uncommon, with very few examples found online, and only semi-occasional listing for sale online, so if you're looking for one of these you'll need to be patient.
