The Tyco 6V DP Racer is a radio controlled toy manufactured by Taiyo (Japan), and released exclusively in Target stores in the North American market in 1999.
It is a 6.0 volt ‘Jet Turbo’ version of the faster 1999 Target 9.6V Championship Indycar.
6V Dual Power (DP)
Called a ‘DP Racer’ due to its ability to take both standard Taiyo / Tyco 6V ‘Jet Turbo’ batteries that were commonly used across many different brands of R/C cars at the time, or the included ‘Power Clip’ battery holder that took 4x AA batteries.

One of several R/C cars released by Tyco and Target based on the 1988 Target Reynard IndyCar World Series Cars, shown on the back of the package (above).

Features and Performance
For the size of the vehicle, 6.0 volts of power is plenty enough, especially for an indoor model on smooth surfaces.
More suited to a younger audience due to its obviously toy-grade construction, it’s still plenty of fun indoors on a smooth floor and is sure to keep both kids and adults busy.
Recommendation
Produced well after Tyco’s golden age and following its acquisition by Mattel, this is far from the best Tyco R/C car. However there are no doubt kids (now adults) out there who hold some sentimental value for this one, and for that reason we’re listing it at TycoCollectors.com
