The Tyco Micro FX-4 is the smallest version of the FX-4 Jet Fighter styled RC car line.
As with all Taiyo and Tyco Micros, it’s reverse-turn only. What this means is, you can drive 2 directions. Forward, and Backwards-Turn (90 degrees). There is no direct steering.
Introduced as a way to compete with cheap Chinese competitors which were now flooding the market, the Micro line in our opinion really only served to damage the Taiyo and Tyco brand, as the child (and parent!) would inevitably realize they’d purchased a designed-to-suck RC car that little Timmy had no hope of driving in any sensible manner. Instead, he’ll be forward-reversing like Austin Powers, over and over.

While some Micros can still be cool in their own way, due to brand association (eg. Bandit, Eliminator, etc.) or tank tracks which are less affected by the reduced control (Mini Traxx), the Micro FX-4 is none of this and just represents that sad kid at Christmas who realises… I’ve been duped!
Our recommendation is… give this one a miss, unless you have a particular nostalgic value for the Micro FX-4 specifically.
