The Tyco Eliminator is a 1/14 scale radio controlled car manufactured by Taiyo (Japan) and released in the US market in 1992.
Successor to the Tyco Bandit?
The Eliminator is essentially the same (highly popular) 1992 Tyco Bandit chassis with a futuristic body and no obvious weak points that the Bandit had (its weak rear tray / suspension connection). They’re better all around, and demand is increasing for them as people realize this.
The same upper body was used on the Fast Traxx Eliminator. With chrome appointments, roll bar, and large front bumper, some consider it the equal, or but those with both often consider it the successor.
In fact, outside the USA the Tyco Eliminator is marketed as the ‘Super Bandit’.
Features and Performance
The Eliminator is powerful and well equipped.
- Powered by 9.6v ‘Turbo’ Battery Pack
- Top Speed of 27km/h (17mph)
- 4 x Shock Absorbers
- Extra Large Front Bumper
Note: Clicks out and rotates down for service
- Solid Rear Axle (No Differential)
- Extra Wide Rear Tyres and Wider Fronts
- Chrome Wheels, Chrome Body Features, Epic 90s Fluro Streaks
The Eliminator was also sold as the Tyco Super Bandit in the UK and Canada.
With Eliminators now reaching similar prices to their Bandit cousins, it’s going to take some serious cash (approx. $350USD+) to get an As-New model with box.
In our view, the best value is finding one that’s a little dirty, no box, maybe missing the controller, small things that you can fix which can reduce the price considerably. The most important part is getting a car whose body, chassis, tyres, and stickers are in the best possible condition.
