The Tyco Monsoon Hovercraft is a battery powered hovercraft toy released by Tyco in 1990.
The Monsoon is a strange beast indeed, and appears to fit into Tyco’s general ‘toy’ line more than it’s radio controlled model line – simply because it’s not radio controlled!
One of the few vehicles from Tyco prior to 2000 that was not manufactured by Taiyo of Japan, instead produced by an unknown company out of Taiwan.
Kind of like realizing that your significant other intimately knew other people before they met you (shock! horror!), the Tyco Monsoon is a somehow strange but obvious discovery that Tyco were fishing around for competing manufacturers as early as 1990. How dare they!
With two currently on sale on eBay from the same seller, and nothing else to be found of these models, we’d perhaps rather that they disappeared into obscurity.
