The Taiyo Super Typhoon is a 1/8 scale hovercraft manufactured by Taiyo and released in Japan in 1990.
The Super Typhoon is 25% larger than the original Taiyo Typhoon Hovercraft released two years earlier, and increases the speed from 15kmh (9mph) of the original, up to 20km/h (12mph) in this Super Typhoon version.
We are yet to take one apart and confirm what motor it uses, however based on previous models and the size of the motor compartment, we’d expect it’s still using Twin Mabuchi 370 motors on the fans, and potentially an upgraded central fan (also 370) to fill the skirt.
At 1/8 scale in size, it’s a big boy, and we’d wonder how controllable it must be at this size, given the original is not known for its precision!
Do you have a Super Typhoon? What is it like? And do you prefer Mini Typhoon, Typhoon, or Super Typhoon?
