The Tyco Micro Hopper is a limited function radio controlled car manufactured by Taiyo (Japan) and released into the US, UK, and other countries worldwide by Tyco RC in 1989.
Features and Performance
As with all Tyco “Micro” cars, this one goes forward, and reverse turns. That is, during reverse it will turn backwards to face 90 degrees from previous position. Powered by 2xAA batteries, this is a toy for young children but still has that excellent Taiyo / Tyco build quality that we see in all their models.

Micro Hoppers and new Micro Blasters are styled like 9.6V Turbo® Hoppers —in 1/24 scale.
All four models include the “Micro” Pistol Grip transmitter, just like their “Big Brothers.”

Taiyo / Tyco’s Korean Plant?
Most unusual, the entire product including packaging, controller, and car is Made in Korea. Not South Korea, just Korea! I’m not aware of any others Made in Korea, and I’d be interested to learn of anyone who knows others which may have been made there, or if it was a one-off.

Collectability and Availability
Micro Hoppers are generally available without too much effort, given their basic features, small size, and much lower original price. They make great companion models alongside the Mini and Full Size Hoppers, and regardless of their performance they make excellent toys and models in their own right.
