The Tyco Micro Hopper IRWIN is a 1/24 scale radio control car manufactured by Taiyo (Japan), and released in Canada under a local brand (Irwin) under licence from Tyco USA.
It is identical to the Tyco Model 2100 Micro Hopper, but with both English and French language on the packaging.
Features and Performance
As with all Tyco “Micro” cars, this one goes forward, and reverse turns. That is, during reverse it will turn backwards to face 90 degrees from previous position.
Powered by 2xAA batteries, this is a toy for young children but still has that excellent Taiyo/Tyco build quality that we see in all their models.

Photo: On the back of the package we see the forward and reverse-turn modes, and the small 2xAA battery compartment of the car.
Most unusual, the entire product including packaging, controller, and car is Made in Korea. Not South Korea, just Korea!
I’m not aware of any others Made in Korea, however perhaps it’s common for these late 80s Micro models? Interesting!
“MADE BY TAIYO IN KOREA”

Recommendation
Often the Mini and Micro versions are mistaken for the larger, more expensive Tyco / Taiyo models by sellers on eBay who simply don’t know any better. And while they are high in quality and a part of Tyco / Taiyo RC history, it’s important to note that their features are considerably limited and they should be priced accordingly.
