The Dino Riders Diplodocus with Questar Mind-Zei and Aries and Full Battle Accessories is an action figure set in 1/24th scale, manufactured by Tyco Industries and released worldwide in 1989.
One of the largest Dino Riders action figures, Diplodocus has the built-in electronic walking mechanism as seen in other large dinos, and a huge double-sided battle pod and other accessories which combine to make an impressive sight for any kid or adult.
Features:
Powered by 1 x C size battery, Dino Riders Diplodocus is a walking battle platform and one of the largest of all Dino Riders. With twin modules on each side carrying personnel and equipment, quad rocket launchers on its neck, twin tail lasers and a command pod in the air. Piloted by Questar in the pod, with Aries and Mind-Zei hiding in the pods ready to spring into battle!

Watch out for the Smithsonian
As with all Dino Riders, be sure to check you’re not buying a mis-labelled Smithsonian dinosaur figure, which Tyco manufactured after the shutdown of Dino Riders as a brand. Since many of those were redesigned to remove the walking mechanism and exclude all the other accessories, you’ll have a hard time making it into a fully restored model. Despite being not quite the same, they’re similar enough and interesting enough to make good additional collectors pieces – as are the Japanese Dino-Riders models (especially if you have the fantastic Japanese packaging!)

Collectability and Availability
What surprised me about Diplodocus was its availability and almost reasonable pricing for a complete boxed collection.
At the time of writing, you could pickup a Diplodocus without any additional accessories or box for between $65-100 USD. Accessories are priced around $5-10, and complete boxed sets around $550 which is alot of money, but not the used-car level money we’ve seen from other models. Major accessories such as the twin pods are’nt cheap though ($100-150USD) so it all adds up if your building your set piecemeal.
