The Tyco Porsche 911 Turbo (or Tyco Turbo Porsche 911) is a radio control car manufactured by Taiyo (Japan) and released into the US, UK, and other markets worldwide in 1988.
It is an updated version of the 1987 Taiyo Turbo Porsche Cabriolet., with active steering and the incredible Tyco packaging and illustrations by Ken Smith.
Features and Performance
Three ingredients make this a naturally great RC car.
- The Beautiful Porsche 911 Cabriolet / Soft Top body
- Taiyo’s 9.6v 8xAA ‘Turbo’ battery power (12V with Alkaline)
- Small, solid and lightweight chassis
- Stiff suspension
- Slick tires
Based upon the actual Porsche 911 Cabriolet, this was always always going to be a great model…
The performance, size, and overall setup appears very similar to the Tyco 9.6V Turbo Ferrari F-40, which is one of my all time most fun RC cars to own. Why? It’s an absolute blast to drive indoors, like a modern RC drift car.
Recommendation
We cannot speak from experience as this model isn’t (yet) in our collection, however based on the specifications and the F-40 we do own, and what we’ve been told by others, this is an excellent model.
It has all the ingredients of a winner, and we’d be surprised if its anything but brilliant.
