This Tyco Lamborghini Countach is a 4xAA powered radio controlled car manufactured by Taiyo Japan, based on the rea-life production model Countach designed by Ferruccio Lamborghini. It was released by Tyco RC in the US, UK, and other countries worldwide in 1988.
Not to be confused with the 1989 Tyco RC Lamborghini Countach 9.6v Twin Turbo, this is a smaller, cheaper RC Lamborghini intended for younger children.
This was not a fast vehicle, but just like a Mini Hopper, it makes do with 4xAA and can still be plenty of fun indoors zipping around on a smooth surface, especially for younger folk. With its slick tires, you may even be able to crack a few donuts!
So many Countach
Throughout the 80s, toy makers worldwide loved the Lamborghini Countach – it was everywhere – its striking good looks and body design on countless RC cars, static models, Hot Wheels , scale slot cars, and slot car tracks. Some of the most popular were the Tamiya Lamborghini Countach, and the Tyco Lamborghini Countach 9.6V Turbo with Twin Motors.
Between Taiyo and Tyco RC, together they would manufacture almost a dozen varieties of RC Lamborghini between them, all with that striking Lamborghini Red just like the production version.

The Countach was sold alongside a silver Tyco Porsche 959 which fulfilled the 49Mhz frequency, making it a perfect pair for racing together.
Recommendations
If you’re looking to complete your collection of Tyco Lamborghini Countach, then this would be the final and perhaps most difficult item to complete the set. Sadly these Tyco versions don’t come up very often on eBay, but if you set a keyword search reminder with email you may get lucky if you’re patient.
Otherwise there’s the Taiyo (Japanese) LP500S version which is far more common, and can be found on Japanese auction sites in greater numbers.
