The Taiyo Ferrari F-40 is a 1:24 scale radio control car manufactured by Taiyo, and released into global markets in 1986. It is the English language version, Made in Japan.
There are several Ferrari F-40 models made by Taiyo, however only two are 9.6V Turbo models that we’d recommend. My personal preference is the Tyco Ferrari F-40 as that’s the one that I own and have experience with (see video below), however I expect this original model would be similar.
Design
The Ferrari F-40 simply looks incredible. The car has a deep red gloss, with slick black tires, and chrome wheels. There are very few stickers, the Tyco model has even less, and that’s a good thing. The car is smaller than most Taiyo/Tyco models, only 25cm long by 13cm wide (9in x 5.1in), but don’t let it’s size persuade you.
Performance
This thing is a little pocket rocket!
With 9.6V 8xAA batteries crammed into its tiny chassis, and slick rubber tires, it takes off hard, and will do donuts all day around your living room. With a top speed of 25km/h it’s not the fastest Taiyo, but still plenty quick.
Recommendation
One of the best Tyco ever made, I love it, definitely one of my all time favorites!
