The Dickie Porsche 911 Cabriolet is a 1:18 scale radio controlled car, manufactured by Taiyo, and released onto the German market in 1987.
Based on the original Taiyo Porsche 911 Cabriolet, this is the ‘Dickie’ branded version that was only sold within Germany (to our knowledge).

Design
Based on the 1987 car of the same name, this RC Porsche is a very close likeness, apart from the white wheels which give it a fun, sporty appeal. The abundance of stickers isn’t appealing to us though, and we’d prefer most were removed but that’s easy enough to do.
Other styling elements like the porsche logo, rear wing, bumpers, seats, and soft cover are spot-on – Taiyo really did a great job with this one, and it works just as well as a still model sitting on a shelf as it does a working radio controlled 911.
Features and Performance
The pistol-grip controller should immediately tell you this is better than average – it’s no 4xAA car! Though there are plenty of slower versions. But not this one!

As a small 1:18 scale car with 9.6V (8xAA) batteries crammed into its small chassis, I would expect this thing to rip! With a Top Speed of 25km/h (16mph) it’s not the fastest car, but its much faster than your average toy R/C today.
In fact it matches the Tyco Turbo Ferrari F-40 which is a WILD wide, mostly thanks to acceleration and the slick tires which make burning around your living room, doing donuts and sliding around corners easy and fun.
Recommendation
Regular Taiyo versions of the 9.6V Turbo Porsche 911 and Tyco version are rare, and so local versions such as Metro (Australia) and Dickie (Germany) are even rarer.
That said, if you find one is available, we’d highly recommend you snap it up fast before another collector does.
