The Tyco Turbo Stocker (7-Eleven/Kyle Petty) is a radio control car manufactured by Taiyo of Japan, and released onto the US, UK, and other global markets in 1986.
Features
This Turbo Stocker is the 49Mhz 7-Eleven / Kyle Petty version, one of a two car 27Mhz/49Mhz set. Released as part of Tyco’s first range of radio controlled cars in 1986, these models were designed to encourage friends or siblings to purchase one each for the purposes of racing each other.
Tyco Turbo Stocker cars had 27Mhz Kyle Petty and 49Mhz Ricky Rudd versions for racing each other.
Performance
As 8xAA 9.6V Turbo cars, these are no 4xAA show ponies! Roughly as fast as a Jet Hopper, but with slick tires and a stiff chassis, these will have been heaps of fun racing around the house, or on smooth concrete/bitumen outdoors.
Recommendation
While I do not yet have either of these cars, their chassis and configuration is similar to the Tyco Ferrari 9.6v (turbo, stiff, slicks) and it’s one of my favorite cars ever made, so I’d suggest these are fun cars to drive, and are definitely a valuable add to any collection.
