This Taiyo BMW 325i M3 is a radio controlled model released into European and other English/French speaking markets in 1986.

Origins
The original model behind Tyco’s 1988 BMW M3, this is an inexpensive, decent quality RC car designed to satisfy the bulk of the market who just wanted a nice looking European Sports Car that was fun to drive.
It didn’t provide the same high performance the Taiyo Jet Hopper MK1 had begun to deliver in the same year, but it was authentic looking enough to capture the attention of the market.

Features and Performance
This is a full-function RC car, with 2 speed gearbox, running on 4xAA batteries (4.8V Ni-Cd, 6V Alkaline).
It wasn’t fast by any measure, but it did come fitted with rubber slicks (tires) which made it capable of doing donuts if they floor was smooth enough.

Recommendation
As an RC car, the BMW 325i M3 is somewhat forgettable, but… as a vintage toy, particularly to those who lusted after the real M3 back when it was released, this model may mean alot more. For the rest of us, we can at least appreciate the unmistakable Taiyo Made in Japan quality.
