MODEL REVIEW

The Metro Mini Hopper 1 (Original) was a radio controlled car manufactured by Taiyo (Japan), and released into the Australian and New Zealand markets in 1986.

Based on the original 1986 Taiyo Mini Hopper from Japan, and almost identical except for the ‘Metro’ logo, it is possibly the rarest Mini Hopper to exist.  Hard to find even as a Taiyo model, and with Metro RC models generally (all of them) being in short supply, makes this one rare amongst the rare!

Features and Performance

Mini Hoppers were always intended to be the cheaper, easier to handle toys suitable for younger kids, and so it’s no surprise that these aren’t speed demons, yet their cute size, quality build, and overall character still make them fun to scoot around, indoors or outdoors.

  • 4xAA Batteries*
  • Mabuchi RA250 motor
  • Solid Front and Rear Shocks
  • Rubber Off-Road Tires
  • Two-Speed Gearbox

Recommendation

If you come across one of these original Mini Hoppers we’d highly recommend you grab it before someone else does.

For those new to collecting, we’d recommend one of the more common Mini Hoppers which are cheaper, easier to find, and likely to be in better condition.
