Note: We are having difficulty identifying the early Taiyo Corvettes (<1982) due to lack of model numbers on packaging. As such, this is a work in progress and is not confirmed/conclusive. If you have any information which may help us, please comment in the chat below!
These are the models/years we’re aware of:
Model 7526. Made 1975. Named “Chevrolet Corvette”. 1/26. (May be this model)
Model 7872. Made 1978. Named “Can-Am Corvette”. 1/24.
Model 7902. Made 1979. Named “Chevrolet Corvette”
Model 8342. Made 1983. Named “Racing Corvette”.
This Taiyo Corvette Stingray is a radio controlled car manufactured by Taiyo, and released in the US, UK, and other countries world-wide between 1975-1981.
It was sold under many different brands, package designs, and names, but always had Taiyo’s “Motora-Wave” and Robot logo somewhere.
At a time when low cost ‘toy-grade’ radio controlled cars were only new, Taiyo exploited their capability to its maximum potential, allowing them to invest further in Research & Development into the next generation of RC.
Features
I don’t own this car personally, and have struggled to find any video of it running online where the controls are shown.
The most useful information we have is this message on the back of the controller.
Our best guess is that the Red Button’s double-switch controls both Forward and Reverse, and the car down by reversing on a 90 degree angle. So it’s an early Taiyo Micro Reverse-Turn car.

Recommendation
This is really getting into the vintage toy category now, and so these are something very different to a typical Taiyo car from the late 80s / early 90s. As such, this one’s probably for the hardcore vintage toy collectors only.
