The Dickie Renegade is the German region version of the Taiyo Jeep Renegade, this one released by Dickie Toys / Asashi Gmbh.
This is an earlier model with just 2xAA Batteries + 9V onboard for the car, unlike later releases that increased the power with 3xAA.
As a very early model RC car, its performance is very limited, respite many of the components and overall design looking similar to later high performance Taiyo RC models.
Model number mystery
As with all Dickie Toys models, the actual model number is a deep mystery, with no less than 3 model numbers indicated on each toy. For this we’ll go with 8098 and 8026 until we have more evidence.
In the case of the 1980 Dickie Renegade we have:
8020 – Printed on all Dickie Toys RC toys from Taiyo released in 1980.
8098 – Printed on the outside of the box as the article number.
8026 – Type Number on the sticker of the car.
